Long story short I've got an opportunity to buy around 5000 rounds for a pretty good price, but I've nevr used them before.

Reviews I've been reading are mixed to say the least.

Some say they work flawlessly in all their .22's, some say they only work well in single shot and bolt action, others complain of constant misfires, FTL, FTE, ect.

Realizing each gun is different, anyone have any first hand experience with this ammo?

Runs the wifes 10-22 no problem. Its just a factory stainless model nothin done to it. Cant comment on accuracy i dont shoot the gun she just blast away a S$#@ with it.

I've run it in several different 22's with no significant issues.
10/22
Winchester Wildcat/TOZ 76 (semi-match grade bolt rifle)
2 different Cooey 60's
Rem 572 pump

I average about 1 in 200 FTF and accuracy is decent for bulk boxes. I can shoot about 1" @ 50yds out of my Wildcat and about double that out of my 10/22 (my two main 22lr rifles). The only FTL I've had was from worn out, bad 10/22 mags and the only FTE was from a horribly dirty chamber where all the ammo I tried was sticking until I cleaned it.

Overall I'd give them a 9/10 for bulk ammo.

Winchester sells 2 different versions of the 555. One has a lead tip and the other is a thinly jacketed hollow point. I was at the local Walmart and went through the boxes specifically looking for the hollow points. The lead tipped ones looked like someone dropped them into a pile of mud before packaging them. Might have been just that batch? Anyways, the lead noise is a different shape than the hollow point. The hollow point feeds better through my semi and the expansion is perfect as captured in a layered vinyl medium at 100 yards. They are however a bit under powered for a hunting load and not consistent enough to be a good target ammo. They are however cheap ammo for plinking. Stove piped 2 X after 100 rounds. For the price, it is to be expected. I would buy again and I am sure I would not have any problems using them in my bolt action.

If the "bucket of bullets" is a 2/10 for consistency and reliability, I'd give the 555's a 6/10. I find they work really well in the bolt action and probably 99% in the 10/22. If I found a good deal on 5000 rounds in this lean market I'd grab them up :)

I have used lots. Gopher, plinking, target shooting. 10/22, Buckmark , s &w 17, CZ bolt all fed well all accurate enough. No missfires unlike my trouble with Remington .22 ammo. I would buy in a heartbeat
