Hi All,

I'm looking to replace a stock on my rifle. I have a Remington 700 XCR Tactical Long Range 3.08 Heavy Barrel. I'm looking to put on either of the following stocks:

1. McMillan A5.
2. Manners MCS-T5A
3. Robertson TAC

Can you guys give me your opinions and if you know of anyone who has a stock ready to ship I would be open to purchasing it since competition season is soon starting.

In terms of the stock, I only want a front stud for a bipod and that's it...for F-Class Restricted (AKA: F-Class T/R).

Hope to hear from ya,

K

I just recieved my Weatherby mark V Action custom Build 30-378. Krieger 26" 1/10 Twist with "lightned barrel" lol yes i lightned the barrel since it will be a hunting rifle.
It has a Custom Mcmillan stock Simalar to a-5 cross Sig3000. Mine does have adjustable integral cheekpiece and butt with Desert camo pattern so it is on the heavier side. It is built with F-class Fat body. This stock is used for hunting so i Did tap the stock with drills and few parts are custom built to get it lightened. However the overall Quality of the stock is superb and the paint is very durable and stays in its shape even with tapped stock.(for $1200 it backs up the price)
However, for benchrest it might be little too light and i really do not know how plastic cheekpiece would do well on F class.

But then even $200 Bell&Carlson stocks will do you fine. If you have not shot or been shooting for long to test many other rifles and gears, I'd just recomand you to feel and test your friends and other members stock First and see what kind of design will fit you the most. (thumbhole, grip, flatneck ect) If you are an experienced shooter then ignore my reply. lol

Overall, Mcmillan stock does a good job for me and will stay with them for a long time!

Ordering custom build stock took me about 6 months and might be the same for you. if you know what fits your rifle, then id just order one from american sites that already carry the one you want. They will ship it to ya and you will get it in a week or two.

Oh and my personal experiences with fat barrel, I have purchased light and affordable tactical stocks and filled the butt end with weights (led). that evened out the balance of the rifle and stable enough to do benchrest. but that is just my opinion.

Robertson closed up shop last year, and the assets were purchased by some folks out of the US; there's a thread on it here but it sounds like no stocks to Canada for at least year and then who knows. If you can find one used grab it, I know I really like my TAC.

The Manners T4 is the one that is like the McMilllan A5 and the Robertson TAC. I have both the Manners T4 and the McMillian A5, and had the opportunity to check out the Robertson at his shop last summer. I was a nicer stock... too back he closed shop. :-(

Robertson T3 TAC Stock

Manners has a couple of nice new folding stock options. I have a mcmillan A2 that is good to go although it is an older model. Any stock at that price range will be a good stock, try to get your hands on a couple differnet ones to try out and go from there.

Not sure who can bring in the manners stock into canada, does any one else now?
