Hi All

Considering a coyote rifle w/ following features

Wylde chamber
1 in 7 to 1 in 9 twist
acceptable weight
adjustable cheek piece, folding stock
multiple sling points, QD and loops

Bushmaster ACR DMR is good example but heavy
Robinson maybe
RRA, Daniel Defense, HK, SIG, FN SCAR, ???

Who got 'em and what are the good/bads you like?

Peter

Planning on hunting at the gun range?

Buy an ACR but skip the DMR model in favor of a converted enhanced model. They are a little lighter and with a quality aftermarket barrel it will outshoot the DMR.
The one one the EE right now with the spiral fluted barrel would be perfect for you.
Rob Arms XCR could work but the accuracy is not as good as the ACR.

Other than that there is nothing available other the ATRS Modern Varmint or you can build yourself an MDI SLR or ATRS MS to suit your needs.

Hk sl8 lacks the pistol grip tacticoolery. But otherwise is quite nice.

Edit: The g36 based action is battle proven and one of the most reliable modern actions to boot.

And as cr5 pointed out. For factory n/r black rifles... probably the most accurate. Maybe just maybe you can get your slr/modern sporter more accurate but it will be more money.

Also the most accurate out of the box non restricted semi auto we can buy currently. I've owned three of them over the years, two of them shot 1 moa or better with quality match grade ammo plus I have a couple friends with them who also saw the same results when using ammo the rifle liked. The third SL8 I owned probably would have shot the same but I only owned it for a few weeks before selling it, I didn't like the G36 stock on that one.

If you need a pistol grip to feel tacticool enough the SL8 with a Hera Arms lower and the folding ACR stock is the best setup I've held so far. It was by far my favorite setup and I kinda wish I hadn't sold that one.

They are kinda heavy but it's not as big of an issue as people on here make it out to be. Everyone likes to cry if their rifle is over 7 pounds but then if they have a light weight pencil barrel they want a heavier barrel because the thin one strings shots when it warms up.
I've carried around HK SL8's, a Swiss Arms Classic Green flat top, ACR's, XCR's, M14's, among others and they're all within a couple pounds of each other and unless you're swapping back and forth one after the other you can hardly tell the difference.
Sure lighter is better if you're hauling it around all day but most guys take it from the car to the bench to shoot or walk a short distance then sit on the corner of a field calling in yotes. It's not like we're humping these things 20km a day with a 50 pound pack. And even if you are one or two pounds difference for the rifle will make very little difference in the real world.
