Hi all,
Just got a Remy 700LTR in .223 for Xmas. Yes, I'm a lucky guy. Planning on a semi-precision rifle for target and varmit. Range at home is 400m. Would like to reach out farther when possible to test the limits.
Is a 6-20(24) power too much at times? Is a 4-16 enough? OR??? Appreciate your help.

If you can't see it, you can't hit it. For something on a bench 20 or 24x is not overkill. If it is, 'at times' you can always turn it down. But don't buy cheap or the higher end magnifications will leave you with less clarity than a good 10x. Cheap scopes also have trouble holding zero when variable. For precision work remember to keep your reticle cross hairs very fine, or they'll just blob over your target and any amount of magification will not help you. Here's shameless plug for a Leupold.... Leupolds rock.:p

Just noticed you're in Bridge City... I'll be down there this coming week if I can beat this ####in head cold. I can lend you a cheap ass 6-24 to play around and experiment with if you'd like... that's what I have it for. No point in spending 1500$ on something you aren't sure you want.
Lemme know if you're interested.

What it depends on I think is how big do you like to see your target from my experience, which isn't that big, I had Posp 8-42 well at 100 yards and 200 yards it's fine, but even 200 is already pushing it

now I'm looking into 3-10 Mueller Tac II, I'd buy Mueller 4-24 Tactical but it's made in China as suppose to Japan for the other :D

read on some reviews on Mueller if interested for mid price for high performer
