okay, I might sound like an idiot, but it won't be the first time and i am sure it wont be the last.
I was going through my sako making sure everything is tight for the upcoming hunting season. I was trying to find an allen key that fits my optilock rings. I have lots of key sets, metric and standard. And nothing fits. I was in a hurry when i bought the riffle and i never received the key from the gun shop

Does anyone know what friggin size i am supposed to use for the rings?
thanks.

I have never had problems with my Optilock. I use original Allen keys included in bases/rings boxes and metric ones from Canadian Tire.
Following is from Sako Manual:
HOW TO FIT THE RING TO THE BASE (Fig. 6)
Tighten screw (A) with an 4 mm Allen key so that the front surface of the base is parallel with the ring base. NOTE! The XTRA LO ring is fastened with a shorter screw (A) than other height rings.
HOW TO FIT THE RECOIL STOP PIN (Fig. 6)
On SAKO mounts the recoil stop pin (B) is already assembled on the rear base.
FITTING MOUNTS TO THE RIFLE
The base is mounted on the dovetail on the receiver with a wedge shaped locking
piece (C), as shown in Fig. 7.
SAKO models: The recoil stop (B) of the rear base should fit firmly into the recoil
stop groove milled into the rear of the receiver bridge. The rear of the front
base should be level with the front of the ejection opening. Attachment of the
base screws
should be on the right side of the rifle and should be tightened relatively firmly, with an 4 mm Allen key included in the box, to hold the scope correctly in position.
FITTING SCOPE TO THE MOUNTS
Loosen the rings crews. Carefully fit the insert ring around the scope tube. Position
the scope in the mounts, so that the insert rings fit the ring bases, and the
distance of the ocular bell is sufficient from the eye (face) of the shooter. Position
the cut at the insert ring in a horizontal position. Refit the ring tops and tighten
the ring screws finger-tight, give the final check for the eye relief and the reticle
position (upright), and tighten the ring tops evenly with an 2.5 mm Allen key
provided.

thanks, for the help, I will have to check to see if I have a 2.5mm, I am sure I do, i think i have bought 10 sets of keys in the past.
