Optic choices for a Beretta 1301 and other "must-do" mods

Well, pretty much have this where I wanted so figured I would post an update. Perhaps a light and sling down the road but otherwise calling it good. Everything except the Limbsaver came from Tactical Ordinance and S&J. Great service from both and Casey's handywork is top notch. Regarding my astigmatism, the 507 Comp in green really mitigates that. Loves this optic. Thanks again all for the suggestions.

So I finally was able to pull the trigger on a 1301 (shout out to Al Flaherty's) and looking for suggestions on a good optic for it. I have very little experience with red dots and this is my first semi auto shotgun.

In my research I see a lot of people hyped about the Primary Arms GLx 1x. I do have astigmatism so I read this would be a good choice. Thoughts? Do you remove the pic rail to mount it?

Another option is the Vortex Viper SG Enclosed Red Dot

Other planned tweaks include
  • the mod 2 hand guard or some other model with mlok.
  • limbsaver (because old age)
  • +1 extension
  • velcro shotshell carrier

Am I missing anything? Would love to see what you guys have done so pics appreciated. Thanks
The Primary Arms scope mounts to the pic rail with your choice of riser. It has an etched reticle. The Vortex unit would require the removal of the rear sight. So in case of any failure, the PA set up will keep you running.

Really appreciate the feedback. Great to see another option for the recoil. Spendy but no doubt gets the job done!

Regarding the optic, do you have a pic with the PA mounted? I'm curious how low you got it and if you can cowitness. I really like the idea of the etched reticle but can't picture how it sits on the rail. Cheers!
The_Sicilian, this is what the PA 1X scope looks like with just the mount(lowest)

The GLX1 has a lot more eye relief that some other prism scopes. I have found the eye relief to be problem with prism scopes in the past. Another option would be a Eotech 512 which I have found to be very good.
