Optic for 14" ar

Hey guys i hâve a standard 14 inch ar 15 and i am looking for an optic .

Something that can do both 3 gun compétitions and I CAN have fun with up to 200 yards at the range

I am specifically looking at the Bushnell ar optics models

The 1-4x32 and the 3-12x40.

M'y main question is would thé 1-4 be enough for longer Ranges and would the x12 be perfect or overkill for my gun
 
Looking at the same scopes myself. I think it depends on the type of shooting you will be doing. If you are going to be shooting at 3 gun targets and lookin for hits on silhouettes then 1-4 is likely good. If however you are more into precision target and trying to make bug holes, more magnification is better.

Of course a 1x scope is better if you are going to need quick target acquisition.

I think I'm going to try running the 3-12 initially and later put on a red-dot on an offset mount.
