Optic for a Merkel SR1 semi auto

What scope would you put on a Merkel SR1 semi auto rifle in 8x57?

For basic static range shooting out to 300 metres. Preferably made in Europe (at least not from China). Under $2000.
Only Euro scope I have direct experience with is Meopta.

Is your plan to only shoot at the range or you want to hunt also?
I would keep it simple light, 2.5-8 or maybe even a 4x or 6x fixed scope!

No hunting for sure. 100% range use only.
I've got a smaller, lighter Steyr bolt gun for my hunting needs.
