Hey fellas,

Recently picked up a savage mark II G and have the iron sights down pat. Looking to put a scope on the weaver #16 mounts. Any recomendations on your favorite rimfire scope for under $100? Or a sturdy one for under 75/50 dollars and the name of a good Canadian website to buy it. If you own a mark II and want to post what you have that would be fantastic, if you don't and wanna chime in with a suggestion or a great set-up or even a great deal don't be shy I'd love the help!

Thanks in advance everyone

Check the link above. I have a Leapers 3 - 9 x 40mm AO with Mil Dots and it works great on my Savage Mk II TR. My buddy has one for his Mk II FV as well. It's more then enough for a rimfire and won't break the bank. I would recommend getting a scope set WITHOUT rings; they tend to be way too high. Just purchase your own rings locally so you can get the correct height you need.

whatcha wanna shoot? 50yrds? 100 yards? i got a Bushnell bottom of the line 3x9 40mm on my MkII and a no-name brand muzzleloading 3x9 40 on my VTR 597. I shoot 100 yards but at that range its nice only if you have shoot-n-c targets as hits are hard to see on paper. a 4x12x40 is probably my next scope for that extra bit of magnification.

the Bushnell came with my MkII and the no-name i bought at bass pro for 50 bucks.

Just got back from the range with my 22wmr. Got a fixed 4x simmons scope on it. Having a hard time getting it to zero (to be fair I was shooting three different types of ammo). However the biggest problem was not being able to see hits at 100y. Gonna get a quality 4-12 or 3-9 to replace it. Spend the extra few bucks, it will make it less frustrating to set up.

I picked up a Simmons 3x9x40 .22 mag and the Crosshair snapped in the first month. I'm not sure if it was from being clunked around in the store or my adjustments but I wont buy another.

Leapers looks fantastic but the given website above is on holiday until mid month and I need a couple optics. Any suggestions on ring heights? or perhaps another leapers dealer or something comparable?

OP, whatever you get, make sure it has an adjustable objective lens that will focus in to 10yds or so.

Personally, my Savage Mk.II project rifle has a Vortex 4-16x50AO and it is working ok so far. I wanted a 6-24x, but Vortex quite making that model, so had to settle for the 4-16x. My CIL/Anschutz 310 has a Bushnell 4200 4-16x40AO and it works well, but the 1" tube has limited elevation adjustment for longer ranges.

I just bought a Sun Optics 10-40x50 and a Mark II FV-SR. It is going to be my new "tactical" project. I may put the scope on my CIL/Anshutz till the Savage is done just to try it out and compare it to the 6-24x50 Leapers that is on there now. No problem seeing holes at 100yds or more with these. The Leapers was only $90 shipped off the EE, the Sun was twice that, not off the EE. I find the Leapers a little dim after about 20x but it is OK in full daylight. x2 on the AO
