Optic on Norc M4

I've run a Millett DMS, no issues - at 1x it co-witnesses, at 2-3x it's basically a shadow and at 4x it's either a shadow or totally invisible depending on light. Just use a decent mount, and you'll be fine.

Hey all

I'm ordering a strikefire next week. I was wondering if someone could recommend a good raiser for it. I have a CQA and i'd like to mount a strikefire on it.

I am thinking of getting a Millett 1-4x. I was considering a red dot, just having a hard time deciding. Does the visibility of the front sight in your scope throw you off any? I haven't spent any time shooting with that type of set up, I am just trying to round up ideas. This rifle will be used for IPSC and tactical matches, 200m will likely be the furthest I would be shooting it.

At 2.5 power the front sight completely disappears due to focal length of the Millet 1-4X.

As it turns out 2.5 power is a nice compromise and I have left it at this setting for almost all my shooting.

Flagged for interest. Planning on purchasing a Norinco AR in either 14.5" or 10.5" barrel config, and the only lingerie I plan on putting on her is a decent optic... :)

I really like Geologist's streamlined set-up.

I went to a local shop and picked up a set of Weaver extra high rings, then topped the rifle off with a 1.5-4.5x scope and at the 1.5 setting believe it or not I cannot see the front sight at all. I am loading some ammo today and hope to get out and try it tomorrow morning. Likely will switch to a mount but I will get out to shoot it as much as I can as is. Look forward to working up some loads and see how well this rifle will shoot!

Got out to try the rifle with the scope installed yesterday. The sun was blinding and couldn't get it zeroed 100% It got me to thinking that if I get to a match with sunny conditions like I experienced yesterday, what the heck am I going to do? Is it preferable to have a scope with no bell so that it actually collects less sunlight? This scope is a cheap old Tasco 1.5-4.5 but I thought if nothing else it would get me started until I got something better. A little discouraged to say the least.
