I'm looking for something light and small. Under $80.
I'm leaning more towards a reflex type sight that doesn't use batteries. I bought one for a paintball gun 20 years ago. It was cheap-$15 but very accurate. Crossman I think was the brand. I think that would work on a 22lr ok?
My boy hates the peep sights on the rascal, as do I. It's very hard to see the target-gopher past 30 yards.
Curious what you are using and if you like it.

I picked up a Simmons fixed 4x scope for $42. for my Marlin. The model is 22 Mag. Decent clarity and brightness. I don't think its rain proofed or fog proofed but does the job for me. It worked well at the dark indoor range I shoot at. Can't really complain at the price. Simmons also has a 3x9 in the same price range. Unless you want to buy a used scope of the EE these are a great deal for a 22.

I use a cheap barrel clamp on picatinny rail mount to hold a red dot scope.
This keeps the loading area clear.
It can be found here:

Works pretty well for me.

If you get two of them, you can mount a scout style scope in front of the fore end if you want some magnification.

tried the red dot and then went to a BSA 22 rimfire 4x for my grandsons rascal....he likes the scope a lot more than the red dot and he is much more accurate with the scope on it than the peeps or red dot. :)

Hmm. Sounds like I might be looking for a scope instead. I was hoping to keep the weight down as much as possible. Most red dots I've seen have such a large red dot they seem only useful for about 25 yards.
I did find one reflex style red dot. But I might just have to put that on my 45-70 guide gun. ;-)
