I don't know what to put on my new 7" flat top...

It's damn loud..

7" RRA flat top upper with YHM guard (That's what RRA provided)

Dollars are tight... So I'm not going to spend more the $500 so I think my options are
EOTECH (AA non NV )
Holosight
Iron sights would be flip up (haven't a clue what to look at though)
ACOG Clone
or Aimpoint clone

Anybody else got some ideas...

Every rifle should have the ability to shoot accurately without optics (ie Iron sights) why not start there?
Other than irons, I'd go with Eotech.

The problem with the irons is that we are talking about a really short sight radius.. I know I shoot a pistol with a 5 or 6 inch sight radius accuratley but this a rifle with all that extra weight... I'm not sure if irons are the way to go...

And if so who's there are so many to choose from...

I would suggest an eotech as that is my personal favourite and I've had good experiences with it. However you cannot go wrong with an aimpoint either. Personal choice is all.

I assume your upper is a flattop, but does it have a FSB or a gas block? Is your handguard just a FF tube, or railed? You could always look at troy sights as they have a very good reputation.

I too would suggest Iron Sights first - you only have $500 to spend (optics are going to press that limit).

Amrseast has some nice flip-ups for sale priced very well.

Weight doesn't make a difference to the sight radius. While a pistol is held at arms length which helps mitigate the short sight radius that doesnt preclude the need for irons on a sbr.

No matter a 7" bbl or not, EVERY rifle needs irons as its base system...especially with some of your 'potential' optics choices.

It's a block...

The one on the lower left....

decisions decisions...

Something tells me walter is getting a call...

Cool looking upper. Ditto to what JL said. Get a decent flip up front (either on your gas block or rail) and a BUIS. It will more than likely eat a bunch of the budget you are on, so you could save for a bit and get the CCO (either aimpoint or eothingy) that you want.

I would get the Aimpoint clone.... I have one on my rifle and it works great :) :)

The Fakey Aimpoints seem to work great...look good...and hold up to the marginal recoil of this type of poodle gun (I have experience with em)

Go fake...spend more on ammo:dancingbanana:

No question....... get a set of good quality iron sights - folding or fixed, up to you. Troy, Larue, Centurion Arms HK416-type. Irons are the foundation you build both your rifle and your skill upon.

Wait until you can get the real deal as far as optics go - buy cheap, buy twice.

Go get an eotech or aimpoint......don't waste time and money. Get to the fun right the way. It will make your range day much more enjoyable.

Isn't that kinda like the dude who tricks out his car for 'performance' but never did get around to taking that advanced driving course......kinda...poser-esque.

Probably missing things I have done... and know I need to do more....

Need a sling Farmboy what do you recommend...

May yet go with a different red dot... But who knows...

I got some mags and tomorrow evening if the wife will assist me gonna see what kind of a flash the KX3 gives... If it's not big enough I do have a levang...

Hey, so, funny story.

Your ARMS #40 is on backwards.

Nice rifle, though. You'll love the KX3, I didn't notice any more flash than with any other flash hider, and you'll definately hear a decrease in muzzle report to the shooter and anyone standing around you.

Bear.23 you're going to have a hard time living this one down :p !

Haven't shot an Aimpoint but I do like my Eotech, the smaller dot does help at longer ranges. Last weekend I tried my Eotech and then my irons, shot just as well with the irons. Irons are quite amazing considering they're ancient technology compared to the wiz bang dots we not have. Not as fast but just as accurate. Nothing beats the feeling of hitting something with irons.
