Hi guys, need a hand here if at all possible. I have a Savage 10FCP, EGW 20moa rail and a Falcon 5-25*56 scope. At the range today I realized that I did not have enough UP in my scope. I was nearly there but had to hold over to hit center. What can I do? New to rifle shooting, and obviously need all the help I can get, Thanks in advance, Jonnyboy...:(
 
What range were you sighting at? Did you use a bore sighter? Did you mount the rail or did it come installed?you were hitting high so you were turning elev knob counter clockwise? With these answers we can help you out.
 
I was trying to sight in at 100 yds, I installed the rail. I was bore sighting by looking down the bore to give me a rough starting point, and turning the dial to line up. The scope seems to be opposite, by which I mean turning the dial anti clockwise which is labeled up makes it goes down and left is right, any help ???
 
When you are bore sighting by looking through the bore you turn the scope opposite direction. So if you need to get your crosshairs up to align with the target, turn your scope down on the dial. So it appears there is nothing wrong with the scope. As for there not being enough adjustment are you still assuming your turrets are wrong and have it turned all the way down, with a 20 moa base you should have problems trying to get it low enough for a 100 yard zero, not high enough.
 
I have seen this before with the Savage base.The problem before is the base was made for the old action not the accu-trigger action. Take the base off, set it on a table-flat surface- look to see if rear is noticeably thicker than front.
 
The base is definitely built for the accutrigger version that I have, and yes it does slope to the front, and the reason that I bought a 20moa is because all I have read says to get over 600 yds you need to use one. I may buy a 0Moa rail and install that one, if I have no joy with this one. As an aside, as I bore sighted this one I could not get the cross hairs to come up enough. Should I zero at 200yds instead??
 
I had the same problem with a M700 I got that already had a 20 MOA rail installed. The scope didn't have enough elevation travel to overcome the 20 MOA rail for a 100 yd zero. You can either mount a new rail with a lower, or 0 MOA slope. You can buy a pair of Burris Signature rings with offset inserts and reduce the scope cant through use of the inserts or you can mount a different scope with more internal elevation adjustment.
