I recently just purchased a Vortex Viper pst 4-16 x 50mm FFP EBR-1 MOA illuminated reticle riflescope (http://www.vortexcanada.net/products/riflescopes/viper_pst/viper_pst_4-16x50ebr1moa.html). This is to be mounted on my new rem 700 sps tactical AAC-SD rifle .308. This is a dual purpose rifle for both hunting and target shooting. I would like to be able to keep a 100yd zero and have the ability to reach out further.
What would the optimal cant for a one piece short action rail be to achieve this?
Any advice on brands etc ( nightforce, leupold, badger ord, and weaver?)
What would be a good sturdy set of rings (30mm tube on scope, and would like to keep it close to the rifle).
I dont mind paying money for good quality product, all suggestions are welcome.
