I am looking for suggestions for my new optics for a Ruger 308 Precision Rifle that I just bought. I would like to shoot out to 300 yards.

Also, would I be able to use this scope on other rifles or does this waste too much time in setup? Any information and discussion on cost and quality would be appreciated.

Well... Every picture Ruger ever posted on the RPR shows it with a Burries XTR II scope. I'd start there if I were you.

I have 2 of them and I think they represent good value...

If you will be swapping it among rifles... I'd get a one piece QD base.

I'd consider the one piece PEPR mount from Burris. The 34 mm version of the PEPR mount does not come in a QD model. If you want a QD base there are others... like Larue... but that one chews your rail.

For a 34mm qd one piece base that does not chew your scope rail you'll probably end up here... I don't have one of these, but will probably replace my Larue with one of these some day.

I actually swap over my scope (tangent theta) between my 22 and 308. I just use ATRS rings and they are good to go. No QD required. I usually just dial up for the 22, and dial back down for the 308. Its usually within 0.1 mrad.
