Got invited to a night match. Need to get rigged out.

Thinking ill bring my open STI Millenium 38Super for a pistol and strap a flashlight to the 90 degree mount since its Open only for divisions. As long as there isn't a ton of white light coming out around me to wash away the dot I should be fine.

Shotgun will have a light or light/laser combo on a barrel clamp. Not to worried about it.

The rifle is open to suggestions. May bring an Elcan DR for optic but light/laser is open to suggestions.

Gear suggestions?

TLR-HP recommended by a friend for rifle. Surefires are nice but a little more spendy. It would be nice if someone here who is atas enough to know what works and what does not.

Fenix TK series with a pressure pad is quite nice. I have one on my one AR. The only drawback is the amount of extra wire.

I'll be going with a Surefire Mini scout on my other one.

The Inforce are nice as well, but I just couldn't get mine in the right position that I wanted.

Do you have a rail or tubed forend? Flip up front sights or post?

Not sure what upper to bring. My multigun upper is an 18" with a PRI carbon tube. May not be able to get rail parts for it in time for match. Any railed upper I have is too short for the border guys liking. May build a 16" with a rail to be atas for thus match.

Leaning toward Surefire X400 Ultra for the rifle. Streamlight would work but I never seen Streamlight sponser a shooter. I have an older Surefire light that I will put on the shotgun. Not to sure on pistol yet.

I see all kinds of scout type lights and I dont see the advantage over the X400 series. Am I missing out on something? Barrel blocks the light?

I can put my scout light on the right side and the tape switch on the left for my thumb to touch. With the X400 you need to move your thumb or finger to it, or locate just in front of where you grip.

Durability. The x series pistol lights are nowhere near as well built as the scout series.

I can put a tape switch on the X400. That makes sense about the durability. I don't really need anything tougher than the X400 and I like the light/laser combo feature.

Match is south of the border and by invite only.

I put my scout and my x300 on mine for a lowlight course I did. Noticed the x300 threw a lot more light. it was actually pretty comfortable. standard grip for the push to the rear of the scout, and an up and over grip for the x300 (I just had 2 on for backup, but was working on using both lights)

pistol was an m&p with an x300 on it. worked out really well.

I picked up a X400 Ultra for the rifle. Plan on using my X300 on my shotgun. Not sure on the pistol yet. I'll take pics of the rig before I go down.

Toying with the idea of IR googles. Any recommendations that are less than 2G?
