Optics Magnification Question Vs Yardage.

What are you shooting?

If it's animals, 10X should be sufficient.

If it's targets - it's whatever you want!

I have a 4.5-18x on my .223 gopher rig, and a 4-14 on my precision target rifle.

SW Sask. is open country and windy, shots tend to be long. 15 power is adequate for these shots. However, we also hunt a badland type river system and the Coyote may arrive at 30 yards. I just put a Bushnell 6500
2.5 x 16 on a Coyote rifle for the winter. Time will tell but this scope feels real good.

Scope

I have a Nikon Monarch 5-20 on my 204 ruger, a 6-18 VX II Leupold on my 22-250, a 4-12 Bushnell 3200 on my 223, a 4-12 Trophy on my Hornet a 4-16 Bushnell 4200 on my 243.
Like them all, but love that nikon and 204 combo the best. FS

pic of me with deer

I shot 3 deer this year at 400,400, and 500 yards.
I have a 2x7 variable scope.
I left it on 2X

At 400 yards, I aimed 1 foot over the back.
At 500 yards, I aimed 2 feet over the back.
