So I am looking at fitting an optic on my Glock 17 and have been checking out the Burris Fastfire III and mounting it with the mount that utilizes the dovetail for the standard rear sight. My question is - have any of you guys used this sytem and can give pros/cons, or are there opinions on alternatives for nailing a reflex to the Glock slide.

Thx.

I kind of have been going through the same reflection as you Vladivar.....

On my end....as my eyesight is diminishing, an RMR sight sure looks like fun and interesting.

So, Today I ordered: Glock 17 Gen 4 MOS 9mm, Surefire X300 Ultra 6V 600LU BLK, and a Trijicon RMR 3.25 MOA, Red Dot. The light on top of giving it a really tactical cool look (ok ok....I know its not supposed to be important), will add weight and will (I hope) help to additionally stabilize the pistol`s recoil. Anyways....that`s my thinking....

I ordered from Wolverine. Very friendly and professional service. Good prices.

I will let you know how I like the rig when I receive it. After I test fire.....can`t wait. Like a kid at Christmas!

For fun, I put one on my 17L. It works fine, but my groups are pretty dissapointing at ~4" at 10m. I put one on my K100 and got ~2" groups from that @ 10m. The 17L is a gen 1 I picked up off of the EE so it's probably had a lot of rounds through it. I did swap in a Lone Wolf barrel, but no difference in group size.

Check out Black Box Customs website in Calgary if you want to go the route of directly mounting it on the slide. The cons for the dove tail mount is that it adds a lot of height by the time you get the plate adaptor as opposed to getting Black Box to customize a solution.

My 17 was milled to accept a RDS by TacOrd. Came with a Trijicon RMR mounted (same 3.25 MOA LED version as Graveman). The RMR is VERY rugged, and holds zero well.

I find groups are no better than with irons, but quite a bit faster, especially when transitioning between multiple targets. Then again, I have a fair amount of trigger time with RDS on my carbines, so it was an easy transition.
