Ok, so I'm in the process of selling a bunch of stuff to buy a Swiss Arms, and was wondering what you Swiss Arms owners out there would recommend: irons or optics. I'll be using the rifle mainly for Service rifle competitions and maybe taking the occasional yote.

S&B Short Dot II on full size rifle. Heavy, but REALLY nice for anything inside 500 yards and the larger rifle balances it out.

Aimpoint T1 micro on a carbine or cqb for anything inside 300 yards.

nightforce 1-4x24 in a larue qd 104 lt mount (crystal clear, works like an aimpoint comp m4, super fast target acquisition, great eye relief, large FOV, choice of reticles, holds its zero, excellent optic.... if you want more magnification a nightforce 2.5-10 by 24 if you like small or 32 if you don't mind a larger objective.

Trijicon TR24G in ADM Recon mount. Sprint is correct - the carbine/cqb really like the T1 Micro. :)

My flattop wears a Nightforce 2.5-10x24. Sits nice and low for a good cheekweld, good magnification range for short range and medium range hunting or paper punching, built tough, uses standard 30mm rings so no worries about some of the haphazard mounting systems of some other optics, illumination is a bonus. If more of my shooting was close range, I would mount a Nightforce 1-4x24 but as it is, the 2.5-10x24 suits my needs better.

EDIT: there is a thread on this exact topic somewhere here in the Optics forum, wasn't that long ago either

bump - is the aimpoint h1/t1 the only red dot that will allow perfect cowitness on a cqb?

any other viable options out there, like the SPARC?

I had a spare Mark 4 3.5-10x lying around so that's what I put on my Black Special Target. If I was buying new I probably would have gone with a 2.5-10x NXS but you can't argue with using what you have around. The TMR reticle is nice and fine for gophers and such. The only downside is that the turrets are a bit tall and the reticle isn't lighted. Both pretty minor criticisms.
