First of all Merry Christmas to one and all.

I plan to purchase Remington XCR in .308 win, next year.Iam looking to scope out this rifle,Im down to a Leupold Mark 4,Bushnell 6500 Elite and the Burris XTR( Nightforce is a bit pricey for me right now ).What Iam looking for is opinions on these scopes both good and bad,and what are good mounts and rings to use,and I would also like some opinions on Q.R. rings as well,as I dont really want to store the scope with the rifle in a packed gun cabinet,if I can help it.Oh! and I plan to use this rifle for shooting out to ranges from 1-600 yds,and Im new to the use of optics,as Ive always shot with iron sights, but my eyes arent all that good anymore

Thanks again for all of your feed back.

All three of the scopes you have chosen will work good. I would say buy the best one you can afford. I am partial to the Mark 4. As far as the QR rings I have never used them but Leupold only says they return to within half an inch of zero. I would take some of your cheaper guns out of the cabinet and trigger lock them to make room for your new rifle and put some good Mark 4, Nightforce, Badger or similar rings and a 20 MOA rail on it just incase you decide to stretch it out over time. You can still zero at 100 yards with a 20MOA rail. Better to have and not need than to need and not have.

My 700P's have Leupold 'tact' glass on them , whatever you choose be sure to research prices as they will vary greatly from source to source, 'snipercentral.com' (cheesy name yes) has decent reviews on glass ( under equipment )

Leupold has absolutely the BEST warranty in the business and is great glass. If you can spring for it the Mark 4 is the best choice in your line up. The others are good optics but Leupold is the clear winner. Quality, Clarity, Warranty, buy the best rings you can afford, you only buy once and if you must resell you lose less than buying cheap rings.

I have a Mark 4 lr/t 4.5-14x50, although its not my favorite optic its an excellent scope and have no trouble recommending it to others.

The 6500 is pretty nice it has a FFP reticle. good glass as good as my zeiss conquest. turrrets and mildots are mil/mil. Good warranty, and is half of the price of the leupold.

Like other members here have posted Leupolds warranty is tops
But Leupolds have a history of poor tracking systems. leupold answer to this problem is if you need to move 1.5" right, move past IE: move scope 7 or 8 clicks and come back to the 6 clicks. this makes it confussing when shooting long range.
The other problem with Leupold is 1/4min adjustments not good shooting at 600 meter and out to 900m. Te keep in v bull 1/8min is need without holding off.
The best tracking scope I have seen and used are Nightforce and they 1/8min clicks. I am sure there are some other like Schmitt & Bender maybe some others as well.

Re: Leupold "Tactical" Scope Warranty

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Leupold has had a lot a quality issues on the MK4 line with canted reticles and tracking issues in the past. Some folks get theirs fixed others don't as it's hit and miss. The canted reticle issue was big and Leupold pretty much ignored users stating the reticle cant was within their specs. Sorry when I spend over a grand for their top of the line scope I want the reticle straight, not canted.

A lot of tactical shooters have given up on Leupold as they have not kept up with the tactical shooters requirements and quality and CS has been poor at times. This is why I've sold all my Leopold’s tactical scopes.

If you’re looking for a tactical scope, there are much better choices than Leupold often for less money.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the new Vortex tactical scope line.
