Hey Gang.

Looking for advice, opinions on glass as the Black Friday, Cyber Monday is here and hoping to make a decision on glass.

Background - I have used Vortex and Bushnell in the past and haven't really been 100% satisfied so I am looking at a couple different options.

I will be using this Glass for 300 to 1200 yards and sitting them on either a Sig Cross, Bergara or Tikka. I haven't quite made up my mind on what I am moving forward with yet as I have to replenish the gun safe after selling everything I had in the US. Too much of a pain to transfer and was forced by Canadian laws on what I could and couldn't bring with me.

I am looking at these two options but am open minded to other options as well.

Nightforce Optics NF 12-42x56 F2 or the Leupold Mark 4HD 6-24x52 FFP

Any first hand experience and advice is greatly appreciated.

It'd help to be able to give you some options if you could list what your price point is, what your use case is (long range hunting, precision rifle shooting, PRS comps, etc) what your considerations are and which are most important to: weight, magnification level, glass quality, turret quality/feel and design (exposed, locking, caped), 1st or 2nd focal plane, etc.

The 2 scopes you listed are quite drasitically different in terms of features and intended use, the NF being 2nd focal plane and very high mag range and the Leupy being 1st focal plane and a mag range more in line with "practical" precision rifle shooting.

IOR from MUREA.ca will probably be my next scope. 40mm tubes so there’s lots of adjustment, Schott glass, reticle dot illumination and good prices. They make both side and objective parallax adjustment models. The 12-52x56 2nd focal has 100moa of adjustment. The FFP scopes are all 120+moa. I like the 5-40x56 today but that will change lol.
