optilocks on a sako 75...

I just picked up a sako 75.
Came with a set of optilocks on the side (no instructions).

To install ring to base just square the 2 up best as one can then torque down?

Is there a way to make them perfectly square?

Assemble them,but don't fully torque them,just snug the screw.

Install the assemblies on the gun,but don't torque fully.

Run a 1" dowel through the rings to align them.Remove the rings,and fully tighten the screw holding the ring to the base.

Reinstall the bases.

I machined a 1" steel dowel just for aligning rings,feel free to borrow it if you need one to mount a scope.

I suppose an old beater scope would be good too.

The tube would be square and the goal is check for alignment right?
