Optimum barrel length for reloading .25-06?

I'm looking at having a 25-06 rebarreled. It seems logical that a longer barrel would be better for such cartridges with a relatively large case capacity for the bullet size - more time to burn the larger charges of slower burning powder. Any thoughts or experiences?

Thx.

All of my toys have a 26 inch tube on them. Moving from a 24 to a 26 inch barrel can give 100+ fps velocity in high intensity cartridges. I had a 300 Winchester magnum that had a 28 inch on it, and with heavy loads, it approached 300 Weatherby ballistics.

With my 25-06 rifles going from a 24" to 26" AND switching from Norma MRP (about same as Reloader 22) to IMR 7828 gave me an additional 180 fps with a 120 gr. Partition. I haven't had any problems at all so far and am getting 3280 now.
Using H4831 in the 24" bbl. about all I could get comfortably was 3000 fps+- with any 120 gr. bullet.
The short bbl. is on a Brno 600 custom, the long is on a Ruger 1B.
