I am trying to find an ideal 1 point sling for grouse hunting. I currently use a 18 inch security barrel but after my gun getting wet from the cold weather i may take on a 20 inch mariner.

Im not familiar with 1 point slings, im looking for comfort and durability.

For myself the gun is in the hand grouse hunting. I find single point slings to uncontrollable and hold the gun too low for practical field use. With minimal care a blued gun will be more than ok in bad weather.

I have a single point sling on an 870 I have set up with a heavy cantaliever rifled barrel and scope. The gun is heavy and awkward to carry around so the single point helps a bit. It's application is essentially to keep the gun at a semi-ready state while walking to a blocking point, just in case a deer pops up in front of me. It allows me to rest a bit while blocking too.
For grouse hunting, it would just be a pita IMO. A light double is a better option. Remember single point slings are for military and police applications where the user needs to transition between hands on and off the weapon but keep the gun at the ready. Usually suited for very short guns. Mine is almost too long. When it hangs, the muzzle is close to the top of my boots.
