I'm in the market for a backpacking shotgun. Just wondering what others are using and positives and negatives are. I see the dominion arms 12 gauge is pretty inexpensive and people seem to be happy with it. 12 gauge is probably a little bit excessive for what I need. Then there's the boito .410" for a few dollars more, but probably quite a bit lighter, but slugs are probably a little harder to find.

Is there anything else out there I should be looking at? Does anybody know what these two weigh in at?

Any opinions would be appreciated.

I picked up a Warrior folding 20 gauge that Corwin was selling a couple years back and it's super light, folds down to fit inside likely any backpack, and has screw in chokes. I believe it was only $125 (used) and it's fired a couple hundred rounds with no issue. I'd highly recommend one for your purposes.

Your requirements are pretty vague. What do you want it for?
I have a baikal cut to 19” with improvised sights for slugs you may like

I'm looking for something light and cheap. A 20 gauge would probably be the best. Just looking for a little bit of security while I'm out camping. Seems like there's an increasing number of black bear attacks over the last few years.

Canuck Regulator is basically a disposable shotgun for that price. Don' think they make a 20 ga.

It far exceeded expectations. After 1K rounds it shoots even better then it did out of the box. I am almost going to get around to cleaning it.

Check out corwin arms, they have a 20 gauge pump with a 14" barrel for a good price or short folding single shots as well.

be careful getting the sinsinati I have the 14" pump 20g and it jams quite often... I wouldn't want to be fumbling with it trying to chamber a round if I actually thought i needed to get a shot off in a hurry.

Critter defense at camp or while hiking? You'll want something light enough to carry in your hands all day if it's for hiking, last place you want a predator gun when you need it is n your pack.
