I have a real nice condition Remington Model 31 in 16 gauge. It's built on a 20 frame so around 6 3/4 lbs. in weight, real nice handling bird gun. It has a 28 inch barrel and is a bit unwieldy in the bushes. I am considering getting it chopped back to 25 inches and installing interchangeable chokes. What are the best options for chokes that are available in Canada?

The only choke conversion that may work with that light 16gauge barrel would be Brileys , 16 gauge are special order with a 6 month led time machine work is in the hundreds and the tubes are $100 plus each US dollars and custom made. The cost would be much more than the gun is worth. As stated cyl bore with custom loads can be made to work.

Might go that route I guess. Not much expense to cut off, face barrel and reinstall bead. Partridge and woodcock are a short range proposition anyway in my neck of the woods.

Every 16ga barrel I had choke tubes installed in had to go to briley in the US and they installed briley thin walls
I could find no body in canada that could do a 16ga I have had 1100, 870 and ithaca 37's done in 16ga and a 31 would be the same with a very thin barrel wall
Cheers

If you know someone with a MEC 20 gauge collet sizer you can swage some choke into that cut down barrel. If done properly you can get .003 to .007 constriction that would put you into skeet or light ic territory. How is the weather down in Sussex?
