I was just wondering if anybody has had any experience with these. What kind of clarity are we talking about, close to leupold or what? Any problems with holding a zero, or loosing of zero when cranking adjustments back and forth?

Thx for your time.

Sam we have sold a hundred or so of the Optisan , and to date have had only 2 failures, 1 of which was abuse. Clarity is really good for the price, many have compared them side by side to a VX3 Leupold we have to show and have said the Optisan was as clear. The scopes are NOT Leupold quality, nor have they ever been represented as such, but then again they price reflects this.
This year Optisan corp has decided to change their scope line, opting for a more "volume oriented sales approach" and have gotten into bed with USA Optics, a US based internet retailer. This approach does not follow with the quality product lines either ATRS or Proline wish to pursue, hence we have declined to carry the product line. Why anyone would volentarily cheapen up their fine line escapes us.
There is still some remaining "prestige line" stock available, but this line has been discontinued by the maker. Optisan is now making alot of the BSA product line, which I am not convinced is the same quality of the lastb years Optisan line.
To answer you question as directly as possible, would I personally buy 1 of the Prestige line scopes, ( 2004 production and early 2005 slanted objective sunshade models) Yes , I have several and for the money they are great.
Would I buy a new model? ( late 2005 and 2006 production year straight cut objective sunshade ) No
Would I save a bit more $$ and go Leupold, probably. Mostly for consistant marketing plan and servic is local
We are very disappointed with Optisans decisions, but have no say in their marketing plan

I took a peak at some of these when they first came out. As with most things from China....they generally improve with time, but from what Rick is saying it would appear that they are not interested in better quality.

If I was inclined to purchase one of the earlier models, what would happen when it comes time to service it? Do they replace it with the latest new and improved...by the sounds of it....that would be a mistake.

This is really bad news. It would have been nice to see this manufacturer keep improving. Well it looks like the main lines are it for awhile longer....

As long as stock holds out, the warranty is still direct replacement. If we have nothing left to exchange, in the event of a failure, then there are other options, such as credit towards an upgrade, ie into a Leupold or NF.
We are pretty upset about this development, having found a great scope for the money, spending a year marketing it, and then for the maker to decide to go cheap to increase market share, rather than to possibly split the line into high quality and junk with some in the middle, like Bushnel has done with its various lines.

I've got one on a 7mm RM. I bought it off Rick last year so it's the good line. Being a bit of a rookie with long guns, I was pretty impressed. Friends who know alot more then I do sure like it. Eye relief isn't as good as the Leupold or Burris FF II, but its good enough for me. So far it's stood up to the recoil and holds zero. Super clear. I like.
