Today was the annual Ontario Rifle Association Mons Club Championship. Historically, this is a 3 X 15 round match at 1000 yards. Due to the inclement weather and pending thunderstorms for the afternoon, the format was changed to 2 X 20 round matches at 1000 yards, shot in string.

I was paired with Gord OGG. For those who don't know Gord, he was a team member that represented Canada at the World Championships this year in Raton, and has won many championships.

Weather was poor with heavy mist and fog, creating poor visibility. Wind was not a factor, but as the day progressed, visibility became worse. On our second string, Gord shot a perfect 20/20 with 16 V bulls.

The current worlds record is held by Charles BALLARD of the U.S. who shot a perfect 20/20 with 13 V bulls. Although Canada does not have a record system per say, I think Gord should be honoured for his accomplishment.

Any of you out there who have contacts with shooting magazines, should contact them and advise of this potential world record.

On a side bar, I have never shot with Gord, and being my first year in F class, he shared his knowledge with me and provided tips on loading shooting techniques and the like. I have found every F class shooter I have met, to be more than willing to share their knowledge and provide assistance to anyone looking for or needing it.

Seeing Jim got home before me I will second to confirm Gord's performance today was outstanding. Working the butts we already new it was clean and the V count was outstanding to say the least. He should be acknowledge to what is a world record by US standards, just needs the ORA stamp!!

Way to go Gord! I've been lucky enough to shoot with him casually on a few occasions, and I agree he's always been more than willing to share knowledge and provide guidance. I hope some recognition comes his way for this potential new record.

Congrats Gord! I have been to numerous casual shoots where Gord has been present. He wouldn't know me from Adam, but it is amazing how much I have learned just listening to him speak to other guys about shooting.

Very friendly guy.

Thanks all,
The conditions were pretty decent except for drizzle and fog (about 60f and 95% H). Am fortunate that his rifle continues to make me look good...
Here's a copy of the scorecard and 1 of the 3" spotting discs.I'm pretty happy with the results.

Since DCRA doesn't keep a "records" section , I checked the NRA USA records, the NRA GB records and the Oz records. It looks like this
makes the cut by 1 v over Danny B. Records seem to be kept for Individual and Team scores on a National, not International basis.
Although we were few in numbers ,we sure had a good day (and no lightening).
Was good shooting with you fellas and will try and make it one last time before the snows at next weekend's match.

Thanks Matt,
Winter well and we'll see you at Connaught in spring.

For those that wanted it, my match agg was 199.31v of a hps 200.40v
Damn good rifle ...

great job and congrats. 200 16x is a remarkable score.

just as an FYI the F class record had been set by Danny Biggs at 200 15x.

It would possibly or most likely be a Cdn record if the DCRA kept records, but not a NRA record since we use a slightly bigger 1000 yd target (6" V vs 5" X) and it was not fired in the US. Still, a clean and great, world class shooting Gord. Over 77% V bulls too , awesome man!
