The big match
I shot the 3 day match as well this year. This being my first year with the O.R.A. I didn't know what to expect. I have to thank Fazal for talking me into coming out for this one, it was a great match, a ton of fun and very educational.
I had the privelidge of shooting with some of the finest shooters in the game and some very good people to boot. Everyone was more than helpfull and willing to advise the new guy. I learned that the difference between 1st and 1st runner up can be one "V" bull. Getting to watch how the pros do it and how everyone has a different "way" of doing what they do was quite interesting and I although people swear by certain methods I saw alot of "v" bulls shot over the 3 day weekend.
Other than one match of the 10 where we called down to check targets around 20 times out of 30 shots the target marking was excellent, thanks to the markers.
Gord Ogg, Bob Pastor, Norm Barber, John Kajfes, Terry P. , Fazal , Ric, Thanks for all the advice and coaching this weekend, I appreciate all the help, I listened to what you said and I think alot of it sunk in.
I've learned (due to the 900 match) its better to watch the mirage than the flags when the sun is actually out.
I've learned that I really need to buy rain pants
and I think i'll lose the bi-pod in favour of a decent rest.
Oh and yeah I know, I need a 6.5 - 284 next time for the longer yards but the 6 BR did do quite well at the ones under 900.
Well with some more practice and a few changes maybe next year I'll give you guys a run for your money, laff.
