Hey everyone,

I really want to get into some new shooting disciplines. IPSC, Service Rifle, and in this case target shooting. More specifically, the Commonwealth Target Rifle as outlined on the ORA website really interests me and looks like great fun and a challenge! I had a few questions about it.

After scouring the ORA site and google I was just wondering if there is a good noobie resource for this discipline of shooting, and if at all it is at all friendly/accessible to a newer/younger shooter (I'm not unfamiliar with shooting, do smallbore rifle target shooting at 25/50m at my club etc. but that's a bit different from long range shooting lol).

Also, where would one find rifles for sale tailored to this discipline in Canada/Ontario?

Do regular practices happen at all too?

Apologies in advanced if the past questions have been asked/answered before.

Cheers and thanks!

Contact ORA. Check for practice days. Attend and see what TR is like. You will need more than a rifle. The rifles are rather specialized. Savage makes a rifle that would work. Probably better to buy a decent used rifle. Good sights are not cheap. You will need a shooting coat, spotting scope, etc., etc.

Thanks.

I am aware of the need for other equipment too. I've found lots of stores which sell apparel, spotting scopes, mats, etc. Just rifles and fullbore/centrefire target rifles and sight sources I can't seem to come across.
