The ORA held a great little CQB match today. True to form, the MD kept things moving so we were finished before it rained....or did he hold of the rain? Hard to say with that guy. We had just under 40 shooters including several newbies that learned as they went and were all smiles by the end of the day. Turkey's serenaded us in the morning before we kicked off and even did a fly over during the match briefing. (Yes, Les Nesman, Turkeys can really fly....at least wild ones).

Getting to shoot at a Canadian Forces Base is pretty neat some times and today we had added ambiance of helicopters training in the back ground and machine gun fire on a nearby range. Sorry, I'm I Civi geek so I can't help thinking that's kind of cool.

All in all a great day on the range, enjoyed by all. If you are thinking of getting out to a fun shooting event, CQB is IT. Get after it.

Tim's anti-rain dance worked. Ground was not even muddy for the modified prone.

I managed to get a jam in my rifle and then drop a loaded pistol mag during the scoring phase. Practice went much smoother - of course...

Thanks gentlemen I had a great time . Can't wait for the next match. For that guy I was talking to about his HSGI set up please send me a PM regarding your holster . Thanks

Anti rain dance by Timfoo? C'mon Ganderite, all the rain and snow held off because Maritimer wore his rubber boots and rain pants all day right up until the brass sweep and only took them off for the awards ceremony :)

A great time was had by all. I'm glad we had many laughs when it was time to laugh and we were serious when we needed to be. :D

Gotta run!

Cheers, Barney

Ganderite, no matter where I stand, I never seem to get in any of your pictures. Was it something I said or did? :(

Thinking back on it, the gryphons flying around and the C6's on the other range did add a pretty bad ass effect to the day. I wish I would have noticed it while I was actually there, I may have done a lot better, lol.

Because of our relay rotation, I typically only get pictures of the one relay that coincides with my bombing up time. If you happen to be on the same relay as me, you probably won't get your picture taken.

I learned again that pistol can give you lots of points. If you hit the target and more importantly if your handloads chamber properly. I lost about 12 shots due to ammo that ' worked last time I used it.' The automatic gunfire in the background and the constant drone of the helicopters added to the atmosphere and were added distractions you had to deal with and tune out.

Everyone noticed that 10 second burst!

Man oh man now that the winter precision course has wrapped up I can't wait to get back to CQB! Heard you folks when we over at Mons and it made me kind of jealous :) So many kinds of good shooting to do and so little time...

edit: Super thanks are owed to the ORA and so many folks for time and volunteering across so many disciplines. The fees we pay are a joke compared to the value we get in return, eh? :)

Meanwhile over on Mons range....it poured!

Apparently the driest places at CFB Borden on Saturday were Langemark range and the spot under my shooting mat. :p We could hear you guys, sounds like a fun time was had by all! I really should be able to get up there for the next one.

Maybe we could load pistol armour piercing bullets so my 5 head hits would count. Bazboom

There is a little pointing thing at the front end. Line it up with the little notchy thing stick out the top of the rear end. Then gently squeeze the little lever sticking out the bottom. Repeat as required.

If a half blind old fart can do it, you eagle eyed kids should make one hole groups.

If the posting above sounded snarky, I apologize. I meant it to be sympathetic.

I do ok at 10 yards with the 5 shots. In 4 years of shooting i have yet to get 6 hits in the first distance we shoot pistol. I think most of blow most of our possible pistol points. I try real hard at that 25 yard pistol exposure and usually get no points at all.

My pistol shots suck even at 10 yards. I'm getting another handgun with a rail. Will add a laser, and video record what I'm doing, so I can see how the laser moves off target when I pop off a round.
