Thanks to the 19 shooters that made it to the last ORA CQB match for the year! What a great event, incredible darkness, blinding snow, blinding sun, much complaining all around! Of course I kid, I just shoot a high score in bad weather. Huge thanks to Steve for running the match, Steve (another Steve) for AROing, Laurie (aka Steve) for stepping up to fill a missing ARO spot at the last minute. TheMurader and I actually got to shot the same match! That's probably a first.

Scores follow - complaints can be registered via EMT. Some of ya'll need to learn to cheat better. If you recorded too many points or I couldn't read your writing I deducted highs until you had the right number of hits.

Sometimes we get a question here about what gear is needed for CQB. Short answer is pistol, holster, rifle and some way to handle 5 rifle mags and 2 pistol mags.

Here are some some solutions I saw today.

First example is the "Minimalist". Stick the mags in the jacket pockets. Actually worked quite well. (The jacket is older than some of the shooters. I bought it in 1979 when I discovered my plane's heater was not so hot.)

Thanks to the 3 Steve's (one being Laurie) for aro/whistleblower duty. Thanks for Andrew for another fun filled year and of course the various rso and aros for the year. See you all next year at the ORA agm.

Thanks Andrew for another great season of CQB, and to all of the ARO/FPO/STATS volunteers that made it all possible. It was nice to see some newbies out to enjoy the day of varied weather, but everyone stuck it out and a fun safe day. Best comment of the day from a newbie when asked what they thought of the event, "I don't want to shoot from a port anymore".

Ganderite is correct that you don't need fancy gear, but is does make you look taticool. Of the 4 rifle mags you usually load only 2 while under the clock, the other 2 get loaded as you are standing waiting for commands. Same for the pistol, of the 2 only one gets loaded under the clock. I've seen mags tucked into the waistband of pants and the shooter did extremely well.

Have a safe winter, we'll see you all next season.

Correct. My best match this year I was pulling from the waist bands. Still managed to shoot in the 400's. My black multicam does look cool though.

Thank you Andrew for running another year of CQB, and the inspiration you make for all of us.

Thanks to all the ARO's you know who you are, and to Dave & Greg especially for putting is so much time.

Looking forward to next years CQB!

An awesome day! Thanks to Andrew, Greg and Dave for the time you guys give; and to everyone cycling through the FPO/ARO positions. Wouldn't be possible without you guys. Can't wait for next year!

Still taking suggestions for a good BBQ spot, send em over.

Richard
