Didn't get a chance to post......

My friend and I went to ORA Intro Day at Mons range on saturday Oct. 20th. That was awesome, I finally had a chance to shoot long range (300yrds), I did not bring my rifle as it isn't zeroed yet and didn't want to bother with ammo and cleaning :jerkit:

We had a blast, thanx to guys at ORA, Ric, Tony........just to name few every instructor was willing to help and provide extra piece of advise to help new shooters

What I've noticed is that ORA and other organizations lack in advertizing department, I personally don't know to what extend the advertizing would help in aquiring new members but would imagine that every extra member counts :50cal:

The club rifles that ORA provided were really good rifles shooting milsurp at good consistency, I personally had 5-shot groups at 2 v-bulls(6pts) and 3 bulls (5pts) :D, out of all shot during the whole day I had about 3-4 outside the bull at 300yrds

it's well worth the $40 ;) plus you get 1 more visit to the range :pirate:

Can't wait till next year to sign up with ORA to shoot some long distance v-bulls :D

Did the intro day this year and it is a very well run show. Ric is an awesome person to run these events, and definately worth the $$. Joined up late this year, and am looking forward to competing next year! Glad to see others found it as enjoyable.

I think just about every gun shop in Ontario was either mailed or hand delivered an ORA poster for their shop. The deal was they display the poster at their shop and get a free link on the ORA web page. If you know of a gun shop that does not have a poster, let Ric know.
The ORA has also had a booth at the Toronto Sportsman Show for the last few years. There has also been full page ads in Ontario Outdoors. During the off season you will see the ORA display at many gun shows with ORA members handing out information.

Glad you had a great experience but I have to tell ya, 300 yards was short range:eek: Remember the gate you drove through to get to the classroom? That little mound there was the 1000 yard firing point:p

You now have time to get a rifle ready for next spring. Welcome to the maddness:cool:

I'm try to get relaoding equipment as well so over the winter I'll be cracking ammo :D, rifle is ready 10fp in .308 with Falcon 4-14x44 scope with 20 MOA and 30mm ring from Glen Seekins , maybe upgrade to B&C stock is for X-Mas

as for advertising (I'm not pulling it out of the air, I did finish BCom Marketing :)) ORA should try to organize corporate events just like the Intro day, a simple proposal and a plan will go a long way for a company boss to bring employees together.....

Thank you (O.R.A.) also. I attended the spring Intro Day and had a great time. No pressure and lots of help spotting. O.R.A. club Savage .223's with accutrigger worked great, nice rigs. I am looking forward to next spring for another Intro Day (two for $40.00 - can't beat that !!). Thank You again !

JASQOR,
The whole point of the Intro Days are to hook you into becoming a full member and shooting all the events, not just 2 days. If you think 300 yards is fun come out and try 1000 yards.
Remember 1st time members get a break on membership fees.

How are things looking for next year? I need to get back into shooting, and doing it with the ORA I hope.

The ORA plan is to have lots more shooting at Cedar Springs next year. What the DND plans are for the range is still anyones guess. The ORA is on the bottm of the food chain when it comes to range use, after the Girl Guilds and Cub Scouts I think.

My friend and I will be looking to register with ORA in January or so, as soon as you guys set-up some what of a schedule

All the ORA dates for all ranges will be posted on the ORA web site once they are confirmed. I understand the web sight will be revamped this winter.
