I'm home and warm and dry after being soaked in the rain and thundershowers all afternoon. It was a great test of foul weather gear and my optics and my rucksack/3 day pack. This experience sure makes you appreciate coming home to the smell of a strawberry crisp in the oven and steaks on the stove. I was glad to give my wife an ETA from the heads up while leaving Base Borden for home.

First of all, big thanks for a super smooth clinic/ match 60-64 session goes out to RSO Pat and MD Ryan-Mcle. It was a great atmosphere and everything ran smoothly. It certainly was welcoming and warm from the very start of the Butts setup , through the Range Safety briefing, and also through the "Check Fire" period that Range Control initiated due to the humungous explosion in the EOD compound. That was a huge blast!

It was nice to meet up with old acquaintances from the past and see a few new shooters on the line. I'm glad to see and hear that you guys had a good time and will be back. ;) It certainly was fun to catch up on old times while working down in the Butts (since I have not been a Butts O for many years). Most happy to yell at Relays 3 and 4 who were working the butts with me.

Looking forward now to a fun filled season shooting PR and some modified Course of Fire in the future matches this coming summer/fall PR matches!

You guys all have a good time too?

Cheers and warmest thanks!

Was definitely a fun day all together. Got to see some Gucci gear get put to the test and the resolve of the shooters. We had some rain issues which everyone muddled through even some blown primers but i am not naming any names.... dang I am HUNGRY after such a long day though. Great to see everyone and thanks to all the shooters for teaching me about applied ballistics and about the various calibers.

Hey Barney, it was great meeting you and the other guys today, thanks for the wind tips :)

Being our first time it certainly started out at a much faster pace then bench shooting at the club but we soon got the hang of things and really enjoyed the day despite the rain.

The guys were great to take the time and explain everything to us and we immediately felt like part of the group, Joe and I are both looking forward to doing it again. I'll have to ask Ryan to PM me our scores so we have something to work off of going forward.

Thanks again to all the guys who put this together and taking the time to help us get started with such a great discipline.

Conditions like that really put you to the test. My rain gear reached it's limit by mid-afternoon. Boots gave up long before that. Glasses fogged up. By 500 I was straining to see thru the water on my scope lenses. Couldn't really see my expedient sighter because the backstop was so wet. The rain amplified all my shortcomings which means I learned some things so I'm calling today a win! Thanks everyone for coming out!

Well guys it was a great day of shooting and testing out your kit. I am sure each of us found weakens to be improved on. Big thanks to Patrick for RSOing and Mike T. And Barney for running the butts.

Some very good shooting considering the conditions.
Look forward to seeing everyone on the 4th of June. Be ready a different little different style match nothing to crazy just enough to take you out of your comfort zone.

It was a great day despite the Monsoon. I now know what gear I need to replace to stay dry, as my boot were filled with water, and by the end of the day, everything was pretty much soaked through.

Came home and dried off all my kit, ready to roll for the next match. Just need to reload now. A fun day overall, Thanks to Ryan and Pat for Match organization and RSO duties, and Barney and Mike for handling the butts crews. The only thing to make it better would be using Mons again... one day maybe.... one day

Great day w/ good people + some GOOD rain to mix things up

- 400y mover clinic + the advice was priceless - can actually hit 'em now :).
- met the great TacticalTeacher - your online resources helped get me started - appreciated
- chance to see what worked and what didn't when completely soaked

A BIG thanks to Ryan, Pat, Barney, Mike and everyone else how made this happen and kept it going w/ the weather.
Looking forward to the next one.
- Rob

It was a blast,

Thank you Ryan, Pat, Mike, and a special thanks to Barney who help me through my first PR Match.

I learned a lot in one day, from the timing of the matches, to the speed of the shoots, to the limitations of my equipment, learning what I need for equipment, learned I can trust in my equipment to perform, I learned about waterproof paper (thanks again Barney!), and what rain gear I should invest in.

Any new shooter I encourage you to come out. All the guys are great, everyone is looking to teach and learn from each other.

Its such a welcoming environment.

And the unique swings in emotion from the focus on the line trying to make the shot, and having your shots walked in to make 9 of 10 at 500 yards on your first time shooting that distance (thanks for being an awesome spotter; Barney), to the humour when working the Butts with an awesome Butts Officer (thanks Barney). Such a great day.

The rain was just one part, and the EOD was a good story too.

I look forward to the June 4th shoot.
