Hi Guys,

I have been trying to make it to an ORA introduction shoot at the kingston range all year. However with the last Introduction day being May 14th (aka Mothers Day) I am not going to be able to make that event.

What I am looking for is someone who could "adopt" me for a day on the 27th of May or June 10th. I have lots of experience with shooting at 100-250yards, some limited experience at 350yards, and nothing beyond. I have my own gear and loads and transportation, so I am bascially looking for some guidance.

FYI I will be shooting a 700vls in 260rem and a t3 tactical in 308, if it matters ;)

Any offers / advice would be great.

Bulldog,
It is a bit of a drive but there is an Intro Day at Cedar Springs, May 22.
Where the F&*K is Cedar Springs you ask. Down between London and Windsor, near the city of Chatham and the town of Blenheim. About 15 minutes off the 401 looking out over Lake Erie.
You don't have to attend an Intro Day to come out and shoot for a day at any ORA practice, just pay the $20 guest fee. If markers are hired for the day, add another $15-$20.

Maynard, Thanks for the idea but with the price of gas I could reload another 100+ rounds for the difference in travel.

Ian I may do that.

Cheers,
Craig

FYI, the next intro day at Kingston is on the 29th of July. However, on the the 27th of May there is a 500 and 600y practice at Kingston as well. I'm sure the guys will let you shoot for a nominal fee to cover range/RSO costs. These practices are usually very casual and everyone is always very helpful to newbies. Seeing that you are already familar with your rifle, the main thing you have to be aware off is the military range regulations and protocol. The Range Safety Officer (RSO) gives a briefing before the start of the day's activities, explaining the range standing orders, so you're aware of what to do and not to do. A stint in butts pulling targets and indicating and patching holes is a given :D but part of the fun.
