On June 7-8 the ORA held Service Rifle Match 3 for the 2014 season. 32 participants braved the sunny skies, warm air and gentle breezes at our first match of the season at Connaught Ranges. There was good shooting in great conditions. There was a solid mix of senior and tyro shooters with the senior helping the tyros along, and the tyros picking up things quickly.

After a long day basking in the sunny weather on Charlie left, we hit the mess just as the doors opened. You just never know what will be on the menu ........

For those who couldn't make it, we missed you.....but we ate yours for you. It was delicious. :dancingbanana:

Damm that looks good !! How did you do SG ? I was busy cooking burgers all weekend for Hungrys CQB clinic here in Pet. Coulda used some more of your delicious duck stew ..lol

Hahaha. Actually, I made a big pot of duck stew on Friday! Lots of coulda, woulda, shoulda shots this weekend, but SR was a blast none the less and came home a few pounds heavier and wiser. You need to get down here and shoot these matches. Everyone needs to add SR matches to their bucket lists. Happy to see you hosted another great clinic at Pet, you are the BBQ master!

Yes a wonderful week-end. Thanks to TimK for the experience.

That was my first time to Connaught and the place is great. Except the goose s##t all over the firing points. I have a big goose s##t stain on my underwear where it soaked through my pants. It was a great time though. It's 7.5 hours drive one way for me but well worth it.
I shot the worst I have in a while. Maybe I'll have to revert back to the M14 clone.

Great job eating what was probably a private menu for some brass - not for the likes of civvies and Mo-litia. Now you have blown the entire 2014 budget for meals and they already cancelled rations for this weekends DM practice. Though if I had bought rations for the weekend I'd have gone for 3rds, 4ths, 5ths until the chef called the MPs to escort me out. Hey foot guards where is my alumni meal card?????

Surf and Turf is probably a big con to get you to come back to another shoot. Next time it will be K rations and water..,..

I would like to try SR, but I hear there is a lot of running, jumping and crawling. Not my forte.

There's even Slip-N-Slide... or, at least Bolivar tried to add it.

It was kind of weird though, he didn't have the mat, or the water... or a bathing suit.

As far as SR matches go, that dinner was legendary. I'm not sure what was better though, eating the food, or seeing some of the expressions on the faces of the officers who arrived after us and had to eat chicken fingers & fries with the cadets.
