I went to see if I could find a 91/30 I had seen there before with a mid war unsanded stock. I left the house in good time but the fuel pump in my car decided today was a good day to offer up a hearty helping of go f**k yourself by quitting in a gas station. Get the car to the shop & ride the bus home to pick up my pontiac, fill that pig up & hit the road. I got there just in time to watch everybody pack up. 1pm my backside.

Anybody get anything? I noticed an old guy walking out with a yugo fn.

I haven't been to the show in a while but I remember that the best time to get there is right at 7am as the sellers would generally pack up by 10-11am and nothing would be left by 1pm.

Didn't go this time. But my experience with all the local KW, Ancaster, Orangeville is that they shut down early.
I've not had good milsurp luck at thses shows, except one K98K

I saw one or two Kar98ks over the past three years of going. Now, I'm lucky to find Mosins, it seems to be mostly newly made rifles. It is still worth going though as I found a few milsurps there in the past that I thought I would not have found.

Two regular Mosins, priced around 180ish, one M44 and one m38 for 450ish.

ZERO K98's, some sporterized older mausers, whole bunch of sporterized enfields....

Rifle prices were high, as usual, but i scored some Hornady 8mm bullets for 40% off, some reloading supplies.

I could only shake my head at Savage Axis for 500, when they are sold new in stores for 330ish...

Saw what a vendor had labelled as a BREVETE .22 falling block. He had it labelled as 'unknown' last week in Acaster. Needs work, but according to him he had '300 bucks into it' ! Too rich for my blood. I was happy to leave with a REDDING big boss single stage for $35. I now have 3 single stages.....and so we witness the birth of yet another 'collection'!!!

I scored about 500 rds of 8x57 for under $100. Also got an no4mk1 mag and a 1911 mag for a good deal. I would say the best show since the last 3 :)

Also saw a 98 mauser action bolt gun in .303, the guy said it was a brit conversion, but it still had the claw extractor on it, so it seemed too sketchy for me. Also there was a poor butchered svt-40 with a "custom" home made stock, tri-rail picitinny rail over the front sight post, cheap sks bipod and a 1970's svd style scope. One guy had a nice condition 1892 enfield cav carbine for $850, otherwise most of it was not for me :p

Is the gentleman with all the Enfields in full military still there ? I can't remember his name but his card had a military Ross rifle with a scope on it. I always looked forward to seeing his table as his selection of Enfields for sale generally changed each show.

I'll be going to the Pickering show this month for the first time in awhile. I haven't been since November, because it was pretty much what people are describing about the Orangeville show. They call it a "militaria" show, yet the last time I went and the time before that there was hardly any milsurps there. There was a guy selling a Garand, and a couple of K31s, the rest was hunting equipment and airsoft guns. Seriously, why is a sausage making kit being sold at a military show? It seems like some of the booths are just guys cleaning out their basement and selling all of their old ####.

I handles Swedish Rolling Swedish block in original caliber.
I was wondering about this rifle for a while to replace 38-55 and it seems like a good idea.
Handles nicely, sight picture is great, trigger is much better than some of modern rifles I shot at GRGC so why not?
I have to sell something before I buy something-there is only so much room in my cabinet...

Other than that they had some K31s,couple of model 1889 SR,few Mosins ( mostly overpriced), few Spanish and Swedish Mausers, one Bethier Forestry Carbine,Mausers '71 in short and long configuration, Gew 88 Carbine(for I think over 1500$) and worn looking Lee Enfield Mk I (or Lee Metford maybe?) long infantry model also for well over 1000$.

Good trip overall but I'm mostly looking for reloading components and those are few and overpriced.

If the stock on that cavalry carbine hadn't been spliced together from pieces, it would have been a fantastic deal.

I came across a number of the screw in eyepieces for Parker Hale target sights and took them home for no apparent reason.

I was really impressed to see the CFO table. They were giving away free trigger locks and photocopies of different legislative fact sheets. I would have thought it would have been better to pay the 3 people at the single table to stay in the office and process restricted paperwork, but what do I know?
