Question to any members that have recently ordered stocks and/or handguards for their milsurps from the UK.

What additional costs do you incur, other the the cost of shipping? I assume that you would have to pay HST but are there any brokerage/tariffs/handling fees on top of that?

In the process of collecting some walnut furniture for a sporterized No4 and ebay.uk looks to have nice stuff, just don't want to get stuck with fees exceeding the price and shipping.

My experience is if it is not too high value and sent using Royal Mail to Canada Post, it will probably just cost you the postage. The higher the value the more likely CBSA may inspect the parcel and levy duty and taxes. Remember that CBSA has the right to inspect all parcels coming into Canada and levy duty etc. so it is a gamble. If sent using FedEx, Purolator or any other shipper like that expect the brokerage/tariffs/handling fees. Make sure you understand how the vendor will ship your stuff. Ebay UK? Watch out for "Global Shipping" charges and duty. But Ebay will tell you that when you pay. Hope this helps!
 
Ordered off ebay/uk a enfield stock no additional costs but make sure they ship by mail and not a courier. Couriers usually charge a brokerage fee
 
Be careful of eBay in the UK. If the seller uses eBay's global shipping service and the part is identified as a firearm part eBay will seize it and destroy it.

Check that the seller will ship with anything but eBay global shipping prior to the sale ending or prior to your bidding.

Royal Mail is actually quite efficient. Be prepared for the tracking number to stop working once it's left the UK and it arrives in Canada/CBSA/CP.

Went back to the listing, seller has a very good rating, uses Royal Mail International Tracked for shipping. I took the plunge and ordered an Enfield No4 stock and handguard set, will post with remarks once I receive it.
 
You can avoid brokerage fees by bringing the delivery notice and your receipt to your nearest CBSA office. Then you only need to pay the taxes and can go pick up your parcel. The courier will argue with you and won't like it, but then they don't get the brokerage fee.
 
Received my handguards and stock today. Thanks for everyone who took the time to respond to my original post.

Wish I could buy the seller a Guinness, great packaging and product. No extra fees, delivered to my door by CP.
