I know powder is in short supply or non existent in most of the country, but I would like to know where is a decent place to order an 8lb jug of pow ??

Cole: Will depend on where you live. Higginson Powders is always a good choice. Good pricing. Also: Hummason. Budget Shooter Supply. A bunch of others, but these three should give you some direction. Budget seems to be the only one showing any stock right now, though.

I was in this same boat a few years ago. I couldn’t find any powder locally so l thought l would higginsons a try, based on what l saw on gunutz. A very pleasant girl answered the phone, and in about a minute she had my order done, it arrived by courier and was dropped off at the post office which is also a parcel depot and was cheaper than local. Hope that helps you out.

you might want to come up with 4 or 5 powders that would work for you. what you are looking for may be unavailable at this time. flexibility is the key.

What type of powder?

Looking for H4350. I picked up a .270 Win last year and it loves it. Havent tried it in my .300 Win Mag or the old .30-06 yet as they are both IMR 4350 guns but a buddy swears by it in his guns so if I can I will switch them all over and not have so many different types of powder kickin around.

I know Hummasons is out of stock for all shotgun powders as of last Wednesday, it is on order but when it will arrive is anyones guess at this point they say. I checked with other known suppliers in the area and came up empty but was able to find some at budget shooters supply so I snapped up a keg as if I waited it probably would be gone…hated paying the shipping but if you want to play you have to pay!

For what it is worth, Titegroup seems to be in good supply. A number of outlets have it for under $40 a pound.
Stocked up last week.

Looking for H4350.

The entire world is looking for H-4350! (Including me). If it arrives here in Canadian stores, I bet it will be snapped up within a day.

A better long term option may be to switch to Vihtavuori powders, which is what I am doing. Vihtavuroi powders seem to be more obtainable and still within reasonable prices.

I downloaded the Vihtavuori reloading manual PDF. I found the VV powders that match closely to H-4350 for my purposes are N-150, N-550 and N-555. I was able to buy several kg's these recently from CGN vendor sponsors. It comes in and out of stock, so you need to be watching, but its seems more available than Hodgdons and IMR these days.

Three new powders for me means alot of time and money spent in new load work ups, but its all part of the fun.

I also like IMR 4451 for the same cartridges I use H-4350. But it also has been out of stock everywhere for a long time.

I have found IMR 4350 to be a bit slower than H-4350 . N-550 has not impressed me, I use a lot of N-560 though, in 30-06 and 338WM. The N-555 looks to be a tweener, like Hunter or RL-19 . Budget had Hunter for while. HAD

I've got some 1 pounders of h4350 and imr 4350 in the Windsor/Essex area. I'd trade for imr4064 (preferred) or varget. Might consider other .22-250 powders.
