When I contacted S&W about the origin of the "Rappy" logo and engraving on my 686-6, all they told me was that it was a product of the Pro Shop.

A member of the S&W forum did better, finding it in the S&W Archives. It is one of a number made for the ITALIAN market !!!

Huh? Is there something about Italian pop culture that we don't know about? And how did they wind up on the Canadian market?

At any rate, I'm quite happy with it although I'd prefer it with a 4" barrel as it just looks right.

Yeah, I know .... try S&W Archives Collection. "Rappy" is the logo depicting a Raptor dinosaur.

Or sign on to the S&W Forum and see the link.

On S&W forum, one fellow is saying it might be a special run for Canada only - a run to celebrate the Raptors.
Interesting for collectors.

No, I ran that one to the ground. Nothing to do with the Toronto Raptors basketball team.

Think about it ..... Toronto has the worst record for being anti-gun in the country and they would want a .357 named for the team?

Not likely.

On the S&W Archives Collection list, there are several unusual and discontinued models of all their guns - including a "Canadian" model with 4-1/4" barrel. Most are listed as "no longer available".

Ugly...

It's in the eye of the beholder.

I think the 4" pictured is the most balanced looking gun in the S&W line at the moment. Key lock, MIM parts and the logo notwithstanding, from a shootability point of view, I'll take it over my newly acquired old model Python.

And you know what .... I don't see the engraving or the logo while shooting the gun! It could be Mickey Mouse for all I care. The price was well under the going rate for a 686-6 as well.

In fact, I'd happily trade my newly acquired 4" Python for a 4"-4.2" "Rappy" plus cash any day of the week.

Slap yourself even sillier .... ;>)

No such claims here. Just an adult discussion (I thought) about our favourite toys.

I always try to address my audience appropriately; at their level so to speak.

Anywho, I'm glad you love your super awesome "I'd trade 3 Colt Pythons for it" Rappy.

You actually DID slap yourself sillier! I was only joking.

Now you've escalated your ridiculous comment to "3 Colt Pythons for a Rappy". What else are the 'voices' telling you .... ?

The Colt Python before me has the WORST DA pull of any revolver I'd ever owned, bar none. I'd describe it as "clunky". Even worse than a clunky Ruger GP 100 I shipped back to the seller after opening the box.

If I can't get it improved at reasonable cost, it's back on the block and I expect you'll be the first to bid on it. After all - it's a PYTHON - right? The be all and end all of revolvers.

In the meantime, I'll enjoy the silky smoothness of my S&Ws, especially on my Pro Shop 686-6 "Rappy."

Eatcherhartout, Bro!
