A quick question for the group. I have an original 1941 9mm German Luger I am thinking of parting with complete with original wooden holster. This luger and case are in near mint condition. Anyone have an honest idea of what it would be worth?
Thx in advance John

It sounds like a Browning High Power Stock or a C96 Mauser wood stock you have (7.63mm or 9 mm (Red #9 grips), but not for a Luger, as by 1941 the holsters were leather for the P08's.

The P08 had a shoulder board stock that would lock on to the back of the pistol grip via a small grooved slot, but it was not hollow to put the pistol in. But this was pre 1918.

I'd say that nice Luger is about 1000-1200 if restricted, the original wooden holster will bring value up by $500... Prohibited is a different story as the market is very limited, so, let's say you're lucky you would get around 1200 for both.

Just my opinion.

To arrive at a value you need to ascertain the condition, if all matching and does it come with one or two mags and do the numbers on the magazine base match the luger. The wooden board stock is very likely a new(er) production and a very nice and proper leather holster would be more desireable. Then with detailed pics it would be possible to arrive at an estimated the value.

The serial numbers on the mags do not appear to match but all else is original.

What are the markings on the stock? What are the markings on the toggle of the gun?

Looks like a bubba'd Canadian HP stock with a luger attachment and someone moved the cover latch.

just my 2 cents...

One thing for sure the stock does fit and locks securely onto the luger. I will take and take a few more photos of the attachement ends. This is my brothers gun and came from his father inlaw. No bubba'ing was done in this country as everything came from overseas including the stock as a package.

Not a mauser stock, they had a bit more length and straightness in the shoulder end. Probably it was a high power stock that was adapted with a custom made fitting.

Most of the value is in the pistol and mags, but the stock is a nice addition. I would not worry that people are calling it a bubba job, you are easily looking at 2 to 3 hundred dollars for a functional luger stock, either repro or home made with the proper stock iron. This one probably has some history to it in that it does not look like a chinese repro. Also its likely that it could be restored to work with a high power, but I think its more valuble as it is now. I suspect the custom attaching iron itself would be worth several hundred. A cheap repro for a board stock is about 100.

I'll let others comment on the value of the pistol, offhand it looks to be in good condition with original finish.

The more I look at the photo of the stock, I wonder if the conecting adapter part might be a removeable peice, on one side it fits a high power stock, and on the other the luger pistol. If so I think that would be quite desirable.
