Original Ross Rifle bluing types?

Something I was asked that I don't have the answer to - what kind of blue did the original military 1905 and M10 rosses have?

I've seen some with shiny gloss blue and some with more of an enfield style almost matte-black blue. Did it vary model to model or time to time?

I would imagine it varied depending on the level of prep involved, but they rust blued them. That's one of the really beautiful things about Rosses is their metal finish.

Hmm - a buddy's getting his refinished as someone messed with it, so he's trying to figure out what kind of blue to get to get proper historically correct finish.

I've done a couple Ross rifles now. The Radocy rust blue solution is user friendly and does a very nice job. The color is very near identical on my original factory M-10 sporter as on the ones I re blued. In my opinion it's the only way to go.
