TimK just sent me this itinerary in Word or .doc format. Shoot me an email and I will send you the .doc 'ument' outlining the course of fire for Sat 23 Sep and Sunday 24 Sep 2006. :D

Most of you might be aware (especially those of you who turned up for NSCC in 14-19 Jul this year) that the "BERM" between Alpha range and Charlie "Left" will be worked on (built) this fall and we will not be able to shoot the Matches 9-12 or the 500 meter matches.

To make a long story short, this is what TimK has proposed. One thing is for sure, we have had super reaction from many Mil Units and Pers who learned about this new(er) course of fire. The Sunday shoot is about CQB style shooting that the Mil and LEO shooters have been asking us to put on. So Operational Shooting Association (OSA) has a mandate to move into this direction. Yup, Carbine Matches  for all you black and green rifle owners with your Yankee Hill, LaRue Tactical, ARMS SIR, Surefire, MAGPUL, Tango UP, and GGGG&G Accessories.... this is all about YOU!! :p And YOUR rice'd up Bangstick!!

Saturday 0730 - 1200 - Matches 1 through 4 200 m Deliberate, Snap, Rapid, Rundown

Saturday 1300 - 1600 - Matches 5 through 8 300m Deliberate, Snap, Rapid, Rundown

Saturday 1630 - Falling Plates Match 300 - 200 Rundown (Run and Gun) Yeeha....

Sunday 0730 - 1130 Carbine Match CQB styles. 50m, 25m, 15m Snap & Rapid, Then Advance: 50m, 30m, 25m, 20m, 15m, then throw Grenade Weak Hand! Nah! I'm just joking 'bout the grenade. ;) All CQB matches will be using fig. 11 targets.

So, have I got ya stoked to get off yer butt and use that LaRue'd or Yankee Hill'ed up AR15 of yers ??? :) Email me: bgotuaco@sympatico.ca

And I'll send you the course of fire for the Sep Championships.

Entry fee for both days is $ 45.00. YES , there are gonna be cash prizes... to the tune of $ 1400.00 total. I'm not shzttin' you!! Many of you Mil pers from 33 Bde have walked away from our matches with a few dineros or shekels in your pockets before. You know this story & the kind of spread that TimK puts on.

This is what the OSA (Operational Shooting Association) is about... of course , brought to you by TimK, KeithC and Hungry!!

Cheers,
Barney

Ok, i'll leave the grenades at home... but can we bring flashbangs and arti-sims, please ? :p

Hope i'll have time to change that flimsy YHM rail for a Troy... so i won't be out of fashion...

Now that rig.... that's what I'm talking about!! Bring 'em on!!

I might be shooting my 14.5" carbine throughout the entire weekend and just park the 20" HBAR at home, especially if we are shooting at 200m, 300m and then CQB on Sunday. A perfect course of fire for the short barreled black rifles.

Cheers,
Barney

This should be a good show.
A few novice questions:
1 - Can I come and spectate? Never seen a service match and I'm really interested.
2 - Are there any courses / clubs etc that focus on service rifle drills and skills?
3 - What, short of signing up, is the best way to get involved with service rifle?
Regards,
Maxim08

(and no, I won't use a 08/15 for this!)

Maxim08:

Are you in the Ottawa area for that weekend? Drop in to Charlie range and visit us on Sat AM.

Yes you can take a Basic Service Rifle course from : 3W.Milcun.com or most of the shooters have military backgrounds and shoot these matches hosted by their home units or respective Battle Schools , like I did back in Wainwright with the PPCLI.

Yup , come on out and see why these matches are the most challenging matches in Canada. You will see how and why you use your black rifle for the purpose it was designed (to do)....

Cheers,
Barney

Well, the conditions were challenging on both days.
Saturday was relatively windless but we were soaked in the rain and we had to lie in mud and goose poop on the firing point. Sunday was dry but so windy that it was hard even to aim at the figure 11 from 50 yards and the butts crew had to dodge flying figure 11 targets as they broke apart in the wind gusts.
I've never seen a flock of geese flying sideways before

I had lots of fun none the less and hope to see everyone again next year!
