Ottawa/NCR and PRS

EOSC is still building its long(er) range, er, ranges.

Not sure (forgot) about if they allow steel targets. I know that for anything 'irregular', you need to have it inspected first.

Oh how I'd love a dueling tree...

Also, not sure what you mean by "PRS style shooting"

Pretty much anything other then a shooting bench. Using barricades, tank traps, chairs, footladders, barrels etc
The steel targets are not as important, I have tons of large target sheets and can easily do dot drills instead.

Yes, I'm waiting for almost 2 years now for them to build a new long range so I could join. It's a long drive for me from Montreal so I want something a bit farther.
Beside that, everything are awesome there.

Rumour has it they won’t build it for another 5 years,
Hence why i dropped my membership as i was there exclusively (or almost) for rifle.

Petawawa is a ways from Ottawa, but I think there is 6-7 PRS matches scheduled there this summer (out to 600M). Its the best thing local I've been able to find.

I can’t confirm because I never actually seen them but on many occasions I could hear people shooting steel . 2 weeks ago when I went , I saw these wood stands that had a metal hook hanging from the top middle that looked like it would hold a steel plate . This is at EOSC .
I was a member at stittsville before this and I’m pretty sure no steel besides competition

You can shoot steel at Stittsville but you need to place a wooden box around it and it has to be inspected and approved. Pain in the behind, hauling your target out and back. Not sure how that would work for a plate rack.

Oh ic , I wasn’t aware . Either way at eosc u need a wood shroud around any metal and it has to be inspected

We shoot steel at EOSC.

There is one bunker at the 200 yard rifle range that you can hang plates from.

The 50 yard ranges also allow steel, but it has to be shrouded and you need to build your own. No inspection required as long as you follow the guidelines for shrouding. As far as I know a dueling tree would be allowed if all guidelines were followed (plate thickness, shrouding, etc.).

This might be a bit of a stretch, but are there any EOSC members here that are going to EOSC this week and would be willing to sign me in as a guest? I just moved from Edmonton, want to join EOSC but they're only running the next new members course in May. And I'm shooting the Petawawa PRS match next weekend, and the movers just dropped off my stuff on Friday so I need to zero my rifles. I would of course pay for myself, and chip in for gas/coffee etc.
Thanks in advance.

Worst case Ontario go to Stittsville,
They take range walk-ins on the weekend, for a fee of course.
