I picked up this neat little gun last week.
its an Ottoman empire contract FN 1903 browning 9mm long pistol. its finish is gone but its not rusted or pitted. just needs a good cleaning but I think I am going to leave it as is. the bore is almost smooth no rifling left at all but there is only a minor bit of pitting in it.
one question. does anyone know if the missing slide stop is supposed to be like that? it looks like it was ground off for some reason?

here is some photos of the markings:

Great find. Need to read that book on Brownings, never knew there was Turkish contract. I have Swedish contract one that is still made in Belgium.

It looks like your slide hold open device (not to sure what the technical term is), has been broken off or otherwise modified. Here is a picture of my Swedish M1907 for comparison (same model of gun, different name in service).

If your looking to shoot it, Tradeex has some ammo (or at least they did, that's where I got my batch). Very fun handguns which are surprisingly accurate (maybe not so much if it is a smoothbore) and reliable.

some one at some time must have modified the hold open. the pin from it is smooth not like its been broken and the wear on the gun doesn't show that it was broken off any time recently. but at least with this gun its no problem since you have to pull it back anyways to chamber the next round. actually for CQB in the trenches that's pretty smart since you only have 7 rounds the guys wont know your out of ammo if your gun locks back.

I plan to shoot it. I picked up a box of sweedish military ammo for it. I just am thinking of I should try and get a new barrel and shoot it with that or just use the original one? its all numbers matching so I don't want to ruin the original any more then it already is.

right now I want to find one of them holsters. do you know if a tokarev holster will fit this gun?

I am currently moving so I don't know where my Tokarev holster is, but doing a quick ebay search, and typing M1907 holster brings up a bunch of options, cheapest being about 30$ shipped. If your looking for extra magazines Tradeex has them for 25$ each. A new barrel I wouldn't see a problem with as being a straight blowback there isn't too much that can go wrong. Just keep the original so you retain the collectors value as well.
