Headed out yesterday afternoon to do a little scouting for birds with a co-worker. During our scouting we happened upon this guy, he stepped out of a willow lined slough and proceeded to bed down in a wheat stubble field about 5 yards from the bush line approximately 100 yards from us. I am guessing with the sun at our backs and the wind at his he never saw or smelled us? I watched through binocs as Todd nailed him with Thor's hammer literally, 180 grain Federal Premium from a Rem 700 in 300 Ultra Mag. :HR:

What gave his position away, his movement ??
It is amazing the color of the coat and the surrounding cover would be hard to spot for sure.
Good Shooting and thanks for the pics.

Yes he just suddenly walked out of that bush in the background and never saw us parked in an abandoned lease 100 yards away glassing the field. He stood for about 2 seconds and decided to bed down in the stubble. My buddy got out quietly, loaded his rifle and drilled him through the neck while he lay with his head up just barely above the stubble.
