I have three handguns I have sold, one to Ontario (from Ontario), one to Quebec, and one to BC. The two to Quebec and Ontario have been waiting for approval for a couple weeks, the transfer to BC started today and apparently has already been approved for transfer. Is this normal? How often do transfers from Ontario to BC get approved in only one day?

Yup, that's normal. It's the receiving CFO that approves the transfer. BC and AB are pretty quick, a couple of days. ON and QC take weeks.

I have read a bunch of threads recently saying the BC CFO is way behind on transfers and private transfers have been taking weeks to complete. Who told you the transfer is complete the buyer or the CFC. If its the buyer he may be confusing completing his end of the transfer with the transfer being approved.

But then again maybe BC got their act together again.

I bought 2 pistols last week and I am still waiting for them to be approved.I am in BC.
Lady on the phone said it could take up to 3 weeks.

I've been waiting for 2.5 weeks now for my transfer to be approved. I'm in B.C.

A one day transfer in B.C. is simply unheard of...you should march out and buy a Lotto Max right now you lucky bastard.

edit: I changed my wait time to 2.5 weeks, I was off by a week...still way too long. On a positive note...I finally got a shipped notice and should have my firearm mid next week. I should be happy, but this whole process..the RPAL wait, the LTATT wait and then the transfer wait (3.5 months altogether) has left a sour taste in my mouth.

I bought a restricted on Monday, ATT approved and firearm shipped on Tuesday... in Ontario. My DD AR from Wolverine took 4 days for approval.

when i have bought here in winnipeg from cabelas or wholesale ihave gotten my transfer and att in less than 3 hours.
maybe that is because i live here and bought from a local dealer.

Actually MB is very quick, we are much better off than most of the country.

26 days so far, still waiting. Bought from Nova Scotia; I am in BC. I think they are pretty far behind here.
