Out of Season Ammo Sales

As a newbie to the shooting scene and that I've only been purchasing ammo since June of this year, I have a question about out of season ammo sales.

Is there typically a particular monthly period/s over the coarse of the year that most vendor's of ammunition tend to focus all of their specials and sales in? Does it vary vendor to vendor?

I was going to purchase some bulk ammo in 9mm but would consider holding off if we're on the cusp of one of these such periods.

For instance, November is coming up. After that, it's the winter in Canada so am I right to assume that during the winter months, ammo sales are down so vendors may try to spark interest by having a couple of sales during the winter months than they would say during the spring or summer months?

Usually lots of the sponsor sites have great deals on ammo during the holidays. There was lots of Thanksgiving sales on with some great deals on ammo. Some might be still on. If not just wait and follow the dealer news forums. There is sure to be a good deal soon enough.

On a caliber like 9mm, i've never really noticed much for ups and downs caused by seasons, more holiday sales, or driven what's going on south of the border. Like heli said, just keep an eye out for a decent sale.

When it comes to hunting ammo though there's definitely a noticable pre season sale dip, and a during/post season empty shelf effect. If you want hunting ammo, buy it early and don't expect to find it late.
