What's the most expensive sporting ammo you've seen? I went looking for .500 Jeffery ammo and the only box I could find was $274.99 for ten rounds. $27.50 a round. I'd say that's bordering on unaffordable.

Has anyone else experienced this kind of sticker shock? Let's hear about it.
 
My local Canadian tire had a box of .45 ACP for damn close to $80 (50 round box).:rolleyes: It was Winchester suppressed fmj. I've seen it other places for less than half that price. Not even sure why they would bother carrying it over fmj ball ammo.

Several years ago a guy drove into the range in his Porsche Cayenne and pulled out an absolutely gorgeous double rifle chambered in .470 Nitro Express. He shot off a whole 20 round box sighting it in, packed up and left the empties and box sitting on the bench. We asked him if he wanted it. He said No, he had two more boxes to take on his upcoming African safari. I managed to grab one round, but my friend got the other 19 pieces. Price on the box was $396.

Some of Can tires prices wow. I saw .44 mag white box $69.00 ! Hornady .44mag .300 grain xtp 20rnd box $48.99! . What's crazier is I have come back a week or so later and some of the ammo is gone . So someone actually paid those prices...
 
Outlandish prices......I'd really like to walk into my local gun store and buy ammo at a competitive price. I want to support them but selling the same ammo at $60+ over some online purchase, I can't justify it.

I don't know if individual franchisees are allowed to set their own prices but my local CT has very good prices on ammo, and will price match SAIL. The owner is a gun guy. They have more selection than any other ct I've seen, better than most local hunting/outdoor stores. They used to have a great selection of firearms till they had a 50 percent off sale in April (obviously the weekend I was out of town) to turn up the heat on the SAIL that opened up recently. The lady that works the gun counter said it was pandemonium.

Was just going to mention the same .44 mag at crappy tire you mentioned, their crazy!
