Outrageous gun powder prices at Bass Pro

Agreed, all you have to do is shop around a bit it all can be had for much cheaper else where...I buy in bulk once or twice a year, the last pound of Varget I got was $28.50...:D

I asked for it at the gun counter and there was no price on it. I was figuring a bit over $30, after waiting in line the guy on the register gave me the amount I almost choked but needed it for somthing specific that day so I swallowed hard, payed for it and learned a lesson.

Bullets are not any better, when I was in there the TSX's I wanted were $35/50 overpriced, so I didn't buy them, I guess thats why thy have stock. They seem to be like every other sporting goods store, there are things they have at a good price to get you through the door, but obviously for Bass Pro, reloading components are not one of them.

I used to drive the four hours to Calgary just so I could pay $35/50 for TSX! They go for 69.99 - 79.99 here. Also our powders start at $40 for the common H and IMR's, and 50 for the alliant powders.

I think you misunderstood Scar270. The TSX bullets weren't $35/50, they were overpriced by $35/50. Or I missed it completely...

That is just plain nasty. Somebody somewhere needs to be talked to with a blunt object. (That's stictly hypothetical so please don't infract me again as I've been into the rum:eek::D:runaway:)

If there is WSS locally, they are most likely the place to get cheapest powder.
And you can check their prices on their website.

Hey Everyone
I just wanted to jump in here & let you know that I now stock powder & primers. No purchase limits. I have some 4 & 8 lb jugs available. I ship by Canpar to your door. I've dealt with a few of you here and you know my prices are reasonable. I also ship quickly.
I try to price my products at a resonable rate cause I'm not greedy.
Please check out my WTS Post Link below.
Now back to your regular program.
Regards, Henry

If you really need to get pissed off go to MT as most powders are $20 per lb or less. But thanks to Obama you can't bring any back............Harold

A friend of mine went to Bass Pro in Calgary to pick up lead shot for he and I....it was $69. per 25 lb bag. It's cheaper to buy factory loaded Winchester AA than to make the damn things anymore. The reloading world has gone to Hell on a roller coaster.

Thats What you get when you shop for this kinda stuff at a retail outlet.
I suppose if you go through a pound of propellant a year it's no big deal.
I'm still paying $26/k for primers and an 8lb keg of bullseye is $135. H322 I pay $165 for 8lbs.
That's about $17 and $21 each per lb. Plus taxes of course.

just checked a local gun shops web page for prices.no prices listed for powder but all rifle ad pistol primers are 5-6 bucks /100 or 39-45 bucks /1000 except for shotgun primers which run around 8 bucks for 100 and 50-55 for 1000.

on average i see it around the 32 - 36 dollar mark. however, at the recent gun show in med hat i picked up Imr 4350 and 4320 for $27 and H1000 for $29
so keep your eyes open for any upcoming gun shows around...

:D

While I am all in favor of saving money, make sure you really do the math before you worry about a couple of dollars on any specific item. For example, the real cost of driving a vehicle today is in the $0.40/km range. So 100 km costs you $40.00 just for the drive. If you drive 250 km to save money, you have to save a lot to make it really pay.
